About Vancouver
St. Kitts (officially Saint Kitts and Nevis) is a twin-island federation in the northern Leeward Islands of the Eastern Caribbean. The island of St. Kitts β formally known as Saint Christopher β covers just 176 square kilometers, yet packs in a remarkable range of experiences: volcanic mountains, UNESCO-listed fortresses, rum-soaked beach bars, and some of the most unspoiled reefs in the Caribbean.
The island was one of the first Caribbean islands to be colonized by Europeans, settled by the British in 1623. This deep history is visible everywhere β from the imposing Brimstone Hill Fortress to the sugar mill ruins that dot the hillsides. The island's sugarcane industry, which drove its economy for over three centuries, finally closed in 2005, marking a new chapter focused on tourism, offshore finance, and citizenship-by-investment.
Today, St. Kitts punches well above its size in terms of visitor experience. The island has attracted world-class resort investment β most notably the Park Hyatt β while retaining the warm, unhurried authenticity that larger destinations have long since lost. The capital Basseterre remains a working Caribbean town rather than a tourist showcase, and that's exactly why visitors keep coming back.
